Through virtual reality, augmented reality, and real-time environmental monitoring, we are making the Joshua Tree accessible to everyone — regardless of physical ability or geographic location.
Built in Unreal Engine at true real-world scale, the VR experience places you in the Mojave Desert beside the fallen tree. Walk the quarter-mile path. Open the suitcases. Read the notes left by fans from across the world.
Every artifact has been individually scanned and placed in its documented location. The experience is not a simulation — it is a digital preservation of a specific moment in time.
Using AR technology, you can place a scale replica of the Joshua Tree in any physical space. Walk around it. Examine the details. Share the experience with others in your environment.
The AR experience uses the same photogrammetry data as the VR version, ensuring accuracy down to the centimeter.
Future plans include real-time environmental monitoring at the site — temperature, humidity, wind speed, light conditions — streamed directly into the digital experience.
When it rains in the Mojave, it will rain in the virtual world. When the sun sets over the desert, it sets in the experience. A living connection between the digital preservation and the physical site.
